Parkland survivor, advocate David Hogg launches PAC
"Leaders We Deserve is a grassroots organization dedicated to helping elect more young people, not only to places like (Congress), but especially to state legislatures in places like Florida, Texas, North Carolina and others where young people are under attack a lot of the time," Hogg said.
The PAC will focus on supporting “progressive candidates who are 30 years old and under for State Legislature, and 35 years old and under for Congress."

Rating the GOP candidates on the climate debate
Climate change should no longer be an issue the candidates run from. Maui was just on fire. Florida oceans are hot tubs. Smoke from Canadian wildfires were choking the Midwest and Mid Atlantic earlier this summer. While some courageous policy makers are bullish on the issue—like Utah Rep. John Curtis, founder of the House Conservative Climate Caucus, who is bringing his peers to the table so they aren’t on the menu—a plethora of GOP-climate led solutions are not exactly being offered up.....MORE

Updated COVID-19 vaccines expected to be available in September, federal officials say
The Biden administration is gearing up for a fall vaccination campaign that not only includes updated COVID-19 boosters, but the annual flu shot and the newly approved RSV vaccine.
“We’re going to be encouraging Americans to get their COVID-19 vaccine in addition to their annual flu shot, as well as the immunizations for RSV for people who are over the age of 60 as well as for infants,” one official said. Respiratory syncytial virus, known as RSV, usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms but can also be serious, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says.

Tropical system possible in the eastern Gulf early next week, could impact Tampa Bay area
While much of this is unclear, at this point it does not look like it will be a strong storm – but a named tropical system is certainly possible. Still any tropical system over record hot Gulf waters can spin up into something stronger under the right conditions.
Since the Tampa Bay area is in severe to extreme drought — 10″ to 15″ inches below normal in rainfall for the year so far — we could use a good soaking of rain. But the concern is it may come with a developed tropical system of some sort.

Stop using these two types of eye drops, FDA warns
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is warning consumers not to use two brands of eye drops due to contamination that could cause a potentially deadly infection.
Tests of the drops, Dr. Berne’s MSM Drops 5% Solution and LightEyez MSM Eye Drops – Eye repair, found bacterial and fungal contamination, the FDA said in a news release Tuesday. Using the products could result in a “serious vision-threatening infection which could possibly progress to a life-threatening infection,” according to the FDA.
