St. Pete mayor expands emergency housing for those impacted by Hurricane Idalia

St. Petersburg Mayor Ken Welch expanded emergency housing options on Saturday for residents impacted by Hurricane Idalia and severe flooding, according to a news release.
Due to the limited number of options involving temporary shelter for people in flood-impacted neighborhoods, Mayor Ken Welch authorized the use of recreational vehicles and travel trailers on residential lots, the release explained.

Ron DeSantis announces new counties getting FEMA help in Idalia’s wake
Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Saturday that six new counties have been added by the federal government to the Major Disaster Declaration by the Federal Emergency Management Agency after Hurricane Idalia.
Columbia, Gilchrist, Hernando, Jefferson, Madison, and Pasco counties were added in the Saturday announcement, joining Citrus, Dixie, Hamilton, Lafayette, Levy, Suwannee and Taylor, announced earlier this week.
