UNACCEPTABLE: Child poverty rates more than doubled in 2022
The U.S. Census Bureau found that the rate of child poverty has exploded across the country from 5.2 percent in 2021 to more than double that 12.4 percent in 2022.
According to the Annie E. Casey Foundation, there are currently 753,000 children in Florida living in poverty, nearly 20 percent of all children in the state.

“The fight you are waging here is not just about decent wages and working conditions and pensions in the automobile industry,” Sanders told the crowd. “It is a fight to take on corporate greed and tell the people on top this country belongs to all of us, not just a few.”

We need action on the youth mental health crisis, not more talk
The statistics on youth mental health are not only alarming but deeply frightening for anyone who has children or cares about them.
According to a 2021 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey, 44.2 percent of the participating teens reported that they had experienced persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness. Almost 20 percent considered suicide — and 9 percent attempted suicide.
