GW students project anti-Israel messages on campus building

George Washington University students are facing backlash after projecting anti-Israel messages on a campus building amid Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas, with many saying the messages were antisemitic and harmful to the community.

The Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) began projecting messages on the Gelman Library in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday night before they were shut down by the police, student newspaper The GW Hatchet reported.

“Divestment from Zionist genocide now” and “Free Palestine From the River to the Sea” were among the messages. “Glory to our martyrs” was also projected.

The state of Florida is asking the U.S. Supreme Court to block lower court rulings that prohibit the enforcement of a new law targeting drag shows.

Local advocate says Narcan distribution will help bring down overdose deaths

Despite new numbers from the CDC showing fatal drug overdoses slightly down statewide from 2021 to 2022, some Tampa Bay area counties have seen an increase in that same timeframe.

Still, experts say the use of a now over-the-counter medication could help bring those numbers down by the end of 2023.

Narcan, generically known as naloxone, is a medication that can help revive someone during an overdose. Organizations like the Epicenter Recovery Foundation distribute Narcan free of charge to the public as part of its harm reduction efforts.

High stakes: upcoming recreational marijuana case will have far-reaching impact

A high-stakes legal showdown over the future of recreational marijuana in Florida is just weeks away, as the state’s highest court prepares to hear oral arguments in a case with far-reaching implications. At the center of the drama is Smart and Safe Florida, the organization campaigning to tweak the state’s constitution in a way that would green-light the use of recreational marijuana.
