Israel’s army has told Palestinians being forcibly displaced from Rafah where they should go, leaving many to choose between an overcrowded strip of scrubland without amenities or neighbourhoods turned to rubble by Israel’s war.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams, several college and university administrators across the country, and some law enforcement members have blamed "outside agitators" for the disruption in now weekslong pro-Palestinian protests on campuses across the country.
But the outside agitator narrative is a tried and tested police tactic, [Justin]Hansford [executive director of the Thurgood Marshall Civil Rights Center at Howard Law School] said. "You have to make their protesters bad before you can expect the public to accept a really violent action against them," said Hansford.
High school students joined in the pro-Palestinian protest on UW-Milwaukee's campus Thursday as the encampmment entered its fourth day.
"Our objective is very simple: we are advocating for freedom and liberation for the Palestinian people," Shorewood High School senior Sam Diliberti said.
