Pinellas DSA candidate Richie Floyd won his August 24th Primary on a platform of many key issues of the Democratic Socialist of America :Housing for All, The Green New Deal, Rebuilding the Labor Movement, M4A. Unlike the traditional path to electoral success in Hillsborough County where candidates must first be vetted by the Alex Sink Machine or Richard Gonzmart, tout their military service, or just tweeting how awful Republicans and Trump are, Richie is talking about working-class issues and government programs that will help communities of color that are resource starved. With the support of a huge grassroots canvassing team of DSAers and Progressives who know Richie and his honest-talk about real issues a new generational approach to getting elected in the conservative South may be emerging.

Floridians Are Turning on Ron DeSantis
Sunshine State comfortably leads the nation in average daily cases, average daily hospitalizations, and average daily deaths, according to The New York Times. This isn’t just because of its large population. Florida also leads the nation in hospitalizations per capita, and trails on Louisiana and Mississippi in cases per capita and deaths per capita. Last week, the state reported more new cases and more deaths than at any other point during the pandemic. more
