Florida GOP Dana Young Seeing The Green From Marijuana

71 percent of Floridians in November approved making medical marijuana legal and accessible across the state. But the complex details on how to get that done is now being hashed out in Tallahassee and as we uncovered, some key lawmakers in Florida's weed wars are already seeing the green from it. Take Florida GOP Senator Dana Young of Tampa, chair of the health policy committee in charge of writing the rules on how cannabis will be regulated. more

Florida GOP Proposal Would Ban Pride Flag—But Let Confederate Flag Fly At State Buildings

Florida GOP Jeanette Núñez

Back in 2016, Miami-born Cuban-American Republican Rep. Jeanette Núñez tweeted, “Wake up, Florida voters; Trump is the biggest con man there is.” But in 2018, Núñez is the running mate of Trump worshipper and Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis, who is in a close, tight race with Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum (the Democratic nominee). DeSantis, with his white nationalist rhetoric, is an obvious racist. But having Núñez on the ticket was obviously an attempt to make DeSantis appear less bigoted. And she has deleted her anti-Trump tweet of 2016, now declaring herself to be a Trump supporter. here

Florida GOP Smells The End

The Florida GOP is smelling the mass termination of republicanism in Tallahassee in November and is doing every thing they can to protect their corporate clients before the exodus.
They have proposed a constitutional amendment that would require a two-thirds vote of the Legislature to increase statewide taxes and fees. They want to put the question on the November ballot.
Our next governor Tallahassee mayor Andrew Gillum wants to raise corporate income taxes from 5.5 percent to 7.75 percent, which he says would give about $1 billion to education.
“Republicans know a blue wave is coming in Florida, and when we're in charge that three decades of corporate tax loopholes will be closed so we can properly fund public schools, expand affordable health care and improve job opportunities and wages," Gillum said. here

Florida GOP Marco Rubio Could Cost Florida 78,000 Jobs, $8 Billion From State Economy

Florida GOP Marco Rubio seems likely to vote for the Senate's Obamacare replacement that effectively puts poor people through a meat grinder and turns them into Soylent. Both the Senate and House plans sharply cut Medicaid funding for the poor while giving rich people massive tax cuts, and are among the least popular bills in American history, according to recent polls. here

Florida GOP Ron DeSantis: Trump is solidly behind me

Florida GOP Ron DeSantis, banking on Donald Trump's endorsement to help him win Florida's Republican gubernatorial primary against Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam, tells The Buzz he is not  worried that Trump could wind up staying on the sidelines. here
-----
He brushed off the contention that he is too far to the right ideologically to make a strong general election candidate.
-----
"They said it about Ronald Reagan. They said it about Rick Scott. They said Charlie (Crist) needed to run for Senate because Marco couldn't win. They said Donald Trump couldn't win."

Florida GOP Rick Roth

Florida politicians don't like it when you take control of your own government. They want to be the ones pulling the strings ... well, they and their lobbyist pals. So Florida GOP Rick Roth has introduce a bill to make a Constitutional amendment harder to pass. He wants to raise it to 67 percent. here

BTW.  He only got 58 percent of the vote in his last election

Florida GOP Sliming of Florida

Again, Florida politicians are scurrying about, trying to camouflage their reputations and avoid being targeted in November by angry voters.
-----
There's Rick Scott, trying to unseat Bill Nelson for US Senate: Scott, whose very first act as governor was to chainsaw the budget of the science agencies charged with protecting Florida waters. No funding, no science, no problem.
-----
And Adam Putnam, whose loyalty to agricultural polluters in Florida led him to lobby Congress to WEAKEN federal laws protecting state waters. more

Florida GOP Approves More Corporate Welfare

$400 million in corporate welfare to special interest groups and targeted industries. Taxes would be slashed for boat and yacht repairs, jet fuel for aviation schools and gun club memberships
among them.

Florida GOP Jack Latvala of Clearwater, defended the tax cuts on boat repairs.

They did give us some scraps, cut our cell phone bills by about $20, give back-to-school shoppers 10 days of sales tax free shopping, and lower textbook prices for
college students.

"Please turn your dead brains back to the "on" position and start thinking critically about what the Legislature is doing. They give you $20 in your left pocket while stealing $100 from your right pocket by forcing you to subsidize their lobbyist friends." Susan Smith

Florida One Of The Worst States For Tax Fairness

Florida GOP Jeb Bush and Rick Scott as well as GOP legislators consistently discussed the need to lower taxes to create a”favorable business climate. It did not work.
Not only can they not attract enough new business to the state, but Florida’s Republicans have crafted a fundamentally unfair tax structure that hurts workingfamilies and those who seek to be upwardly mobile in society.
It has long been the goal of Florida Republicans to reward corporations and entities that handsomely contribute to campaigns. here
