A Message From Saint Petersblog
Dear Readers:The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has alerted me to a comment which was published two days ago on SaintPetersblog.com. I am not going to give credence to the comment by re-posting it, but it included a violent threat against Governor Rick Scott. I have more than willingly supplied
the FDLE with the I.P. address of the commentor.
As much as I may disagree with the politics and policies of Governor Scott, the man is a public servant and deserves a certain modicum of respect. If you don’t respect the man, then respect the office.
Accordingly, please refrain from making threats, of any kind, to not only Governor Scott, but to any politician. I cannot monitor every comment that is made on this site, so if this becomes a problem, I will have to modify or disable the commenting system, which takes away from the interactive nature of SaintPetersblog.com.

The Atheists of Florida's filed a federal lawsuit Friday against Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd that alleges her recent arrests are retaliation against her secular views. EllenBeth Wachs, jailed twice this year, is seeking an injunction to stop Judd from arresting her or launching new investigations about her. She claims the charges she currently faces are a result of her "assertion of a non-religious, atheist viewpoint in the predominantly Christian-oriented Polk County.

Is under federal supervision under the Voting Rights Act Due to past practices that were found discriminatory to Hispanic voters;
the county must submit its new district map to the Justice Department for approval. Federal officials need to closely examine a map that waters down the clout of urban voters and minorities.

Back in November, we were very disappointed to learn that Kodak had pulled its ads from airing during Teen Nick's popular series, DeGrassi: The Next Generation. At the time, we heard that Kodak has received a slew of emails from the Florida Family Association (FFA) for supporting a show that "targets teens with gay propaganda and other immoral behavior." The FFA seems to really have it out for the show because there's not only gay characters, but a transgender one as well.

The Tampa Bay Rays: A Bunch Of Gutless, Politically Correct NinniesSo, the Tampa Bay Rays wanted to pay homage to the rich heritage of organized baseball in their region by wearing the jerseys of the 1951 Tampa Smokers, a minor league team which played in the fair city many moons ago, for a July 2nd game. There was only one problem: the jersey featured a cigar emblazoned on the front of it. In a typical, knee-jerk, gutless reaction motivated by political correctness, the Rays made the decision to remove the cigar from the jersey to prevent the 4,000 Rays fans likely to be in attendance the psychological trauma and possible suggestive nature of seeing an image of a nondescript tobacco product. For the first time since marijuana was effectively outlawed by the federal government in 1937, we have a chance to make marijuana legal at the federal level. Rep. Barney Frank's new bill would end federal marijuana prohibition, making marijuana legal for adults and allowing states to decide their own marijuana laws, just like they can with alcohol and tobacco.
