Jeb's legacy is taking a huge hit

One of Bush's finest moments came in 2002, when he and President George W. Bush pledged a 50-50 state-federal partnership to clean up the Everglades. Gov. Bush did secure state funding. Federal funding, however, lagged. Republican deficit hawks played a part in that. And Gov. Bush significantly undermined his own work when he agreed to delay clean-water standards for a decade. here

The Sun Sentinel reported last week, oil companies are taking advantage of Florida's chronically lax environmental laws to begin a form of fracking — fracturing of underground rock to release oil — in sensitive areas close to the Everglades. Republicans who dominated the Legislature since Jeb's tenure have failed to approve rules to protect the Everglades from fracking

Ban Fracking In Florida

Recently, the Dan A. Hughes Co. of Texas was given a minor slap on the wrist by Gov. Scott's Department of Environmental Protection for secretly and illegally fracking on endangered Florida panther habitat in the heart of the western Everglades.
Now more than ever we must act to protect the Florida we love.

Florida GOP illlegally gerrymandered redistricting to favor party

The Florida Legislature illegally drew the state’s congressional districts to primarily benefit the Republican Party, a judge ruled Thursday as he ordered them redrawn. here

Judge Terry Lewis blasted the GOP-controlled state Legislature for working with political consultants to make a ‘mockery’ of Florida’s Fair Districts amendments — passed by voters in 2010 — that call for the decennial redistricting process to be conducted without taking into account partisan makeup or incumbent advantage. ‘Republican political consultants or operatives did in fact conspire to manipulate and influence the redistricting process,’
Lewis writes in the opinion.”

Rick Scott: Florida's Culture Of Corruption

Scott,  rejected $2.4 billion in federal transportation money to develop a high-speed rail line between Tampa and Orlando. The architect of Scott's opposition to high-speed rail was Adam Hollingsworth, then an adviser to the governor on transportation issues. Hollingsworth then went to work for Parallel Infrastructure, a company owned by Florida East Coast Industries, which also owns All Aboard Florida, the project to develop a private rail line between Miami and Orlando.
"The state has no involvement in this railway."
Pay no mind the $1.5 billion federal loan that All Aboard Florida wants.
Avert your eyes from the more than
$250 million in state money
that has been set aside for projects that will assist this train. Ignore the $44 million in direct state-funded grants the company plans to seek.
It could end up costing us $1.8 billion
here
This happens when a self-deluding governor has his chief of staff book a seat for him on the Last Train to Cronyville. Tallahassee is truly a mystical place.  Daniel Ruth

Florida Dems Kicking Butt In November

The state party is coming into this
year’s elections two years after the
2012 cycle turned out to be one of their most successful campaigns in Florida’s political history. Barack Obama was powered
on by an
explosive Latino vote
to become the first Democrat since FDR
to carry Florida twice.
in Florida, the question is no longer what Florida Democrats can do to survive. The real question is whether or not they can build on this momentum, or see it evaporate in a midterm election
with miserable turnout. more>
