The Kendrick Meek tour bus was rolling into West Tampa the other day and I was right behind it in my taxi. Kendrick Meek has it all. He is young, smart, a Floridian (unlike his opponent Greene who has lived in Florida less then two years), and driven to whats right for poor people (me).

Arth Supporter Booted From Sink-Smith Event
A few days after independent gubernatorial candidate Michael E. Arth snuck into a photo with Rick Scott, one of Arth’s supporters was removed today from Democrat Alex Sink’s event in WPB for wearing an Arth button.
“It’s incredible to me that the police, escorted a little 58-year-old grandmother out of the meeting instead of protecting my democratic rights to be there. This just confirmed that the corporate monolith has taken over anything resembling a democracy. This is now about the wealthy and the well-connected.”......Melinda Clark

Allen West: People With ‘Coexist’ Bumper Stickers
“[A]s I was driving up here today, I saw that bumper sticker that absolutely incenses me. It’s not the Obama bumper sticker. But it’s the bumper sticker that says, ‘Co-exist.’ And it has all the little religious symbols on it. And the reason why I get upset, and every time I see one of those bumper stickers, I look at the person inside that is driving. Because that person represents something that would give away our country. Would give away who we are, our rights and freedoms and liberties because they are afraid to stand up and confront that which is the antithesis, anathema of who we are. The liberties that we want to enjoy.”.....Florida GOP Candidate Allen West

HEADING EAST
The "news is not good". Chemical mix of oil and dispersant said to be highly toxic.
First time scientists have found such high levels of toxicity. On seafloor, oil will not break down for a much longer time and will contaminate the area for a much longer time.

Alex Sink Is No Progressive
"Like all Floridians, I'm grateful for our constitutional right to freedom of religion... When it comes to what to build close to the hallowed site of Ground Zero, I think it ought to be up to the people of New York City to decide. It is my personal opinion that the wishes of the 9/11 families and friends must be respected. They are opposed to this project and I share their view."......Alex Sink

The Evolution Of Tampa’s Franklin Street
Tampa’s Doorstep
The city’s first electric lights lined Franklin by 1887. It was the first in the city to be paved, the first to have sidewalks. The city’s first brick building, the Bank of Tampa, was built on Franklin in 1886. In 1885, Tampa’s first streetcar, a steam-powered contraption with passenger cars similar to a freight train’s, rambled up a sand-covered Franklin on a narrow track to a nascent Ybor City. By 1900, electric streetcars traveled up and down the street on 21 miles of track connecting downtown to Ybor, West Tampa, Sulphur Springs and Ballast Point.

Michael E. Arth Interviews Rick Scott
Okay, I admit that the term “interview” is an exaggeration. Rather than focusing on past sins or scandals, which you will also read about here, the most outrageous facts concern our political system, and how something far worse than individual malfeasance threatens the very foundations of our democracy.
