Reach For The Sky - The Sky Is The Limit
During the past few months, I took time to not only assist other local candidates in their political races while continuing to help the community, but to also reflect on what is still needed in Hillsborough County: affordable housing, climate justice, adequate care for the houseless community and basic civil services that marginalized communities still lack.
---
As an outspoken mother, organizer and nurse, my priority has always been people, which is why I've decided to not give up on representing the under-represented and run for County Commission District 3. Many of you were a huge part of my campaign and helped us to build a strong grassroots foundation while building immense power and recognition on a bare bones budget. I'm asking you to rally behind once again. Giving up was never an option! If you’re just as excited as I am and want to get involved, send our Facebook page a message and the team will reach out to you and plug you in. Sky U. WhiteWednesday, January 9, 2019
Ed Turanchik's "GO PLAN" Roll Out January 7, 2019
What he didn't do was address the serious needs of the citizens who already use the present transit system, who rely on it on a daily basis, who are seriously inconvenienced by an ineffective and poorly structured system, who are the existing base of customers whose needs must be met before any talk of greenway corridors, fast transit to Disney World, driverless trams or ferries.

Hillsborough County Health Department's Dirty Little Secrets
Health officials offered free vaccinations after a Hepatitis A scare at Hamburger Mary’s in Ybor City last October, but a Dirty Dining special investigation revealed that restaurant wasn’t the only one with infected workers.
---
ABC Action News anchor and I-Team Reporter Wendy Ryan uncovered four other restaurants had Hepatitis A infections in just 2018 alone, but Hillsborough County kept it all a secret from the public.
---
Dr. Douglas Holt, head of the Hillsborough County Health Department, admits Hepatitis A has become a local epidemic, but still insists the public has no right to know the names of those four restaurants

John Godwin for Tampa
“I couldn’t accept his continued neglect of our communities of color, our LGBT neighbors, and our environment. Flipping this seat from Miranda to me will result in a more progressive approach that the council has needed for nearly 30 years.”
---
Promising new and innovative leadership, Godwin said he will help prepare Tampa to be a 21st century city while protecting its history and character. more

Asher’s Choice for Activist of the Year
I have two choices for Activist of the Year!
First I want to recognize Dayna Lazarus for her tireless efforts to advocate for equitable transit and social justice. Our community is stronger thanks to her work!
My second choice honors Glen Eich for his outstanding job in galvanizing the “Ybor 6” to oppose the Rays Stadium being built in Ybor — his efforts helped to save historic Ybor from becoming drowned in commercialist chaos. Thank you Dayna and Glen!

Florida GOP once again to suppress direct democracy

Over the past few decades, Floridians frustrated that the Legislature won’t advance important reforms have gone directly to the ballot box to pass amendments to the Florida Constitution. But that could get harder under a new proposal by two Republican legislators.

In Memoriam | A Homeless Memorial in Tampa
6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 28 - The Portico
We will gather in memory of those who lost their lives in 2018 while living outside. This homeless memorial service honors the dignity and worth of people without shelter whom we've lost this year. They are the faceless names of those who many of us did not know, but we gather to honor their memory and give voice to the societal issue of homelessness. INFO
