Is Florida Next? Federal judge pauses Georgia law banning hormone therapy for transgender minors

A federal judge has temporarily blocked part of a Georgia law that bans gender-affirming care for transgender minors.

In a ruling late Sunday, Judge Sarah E. Geraghty in the Northern District of Georgia said the state’s law banning hormone therapy “is substantially likely to violate the Equal Protection Clause.”

During a live session on Twitter this week, Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz admitted that the goal of impeaching President Biden wouldn't be to actually impeach him - it would be to set a "stage" for the American people to see him on trial. In other words, the whole thing would be for show in a feeble attempt to tarnish Biden before next year's election. LOBBYING COST: Huge donations grant access to DeSantis in pay for play scheme

A new report by The Washington Post describes the shockingly open means by which lobbyists gained access to DeSantis. At least it was simple.

DeSantis would assess the lobbyist’s clientele and then make an “ask,” which could be up to a million dollars but was usually lower, anywhere from $25K to $500k depending on the clients, and they would get a round of golf with a man who can’t hold a regular conversation with people over dinner. (Though he sold dinners, too).

The months-long effort to purge Florida’s smallest public university of its woke ideology has produced big dividends, Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office announced on Friday.

New College in Sarasota, a tiny school whose curriculum is focused on the humanities, “is experiencing record enrollment with an increase of over 300 students this year, marking the highest enrollment of new students in school history,” the governor’s office said in a press release.

Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie continues to target Ron DeSantis.

In comments Saturday in Atlanta, the former New Jersey Governor made light of a strategy memo released by the DeSantis political operation that telegraphed an attack on him at a debate next week.

“I don’t know. A canned line used by a Florida politician, on a debate stage, against me? What could go wrong?”

10 Million Names is a collaborative project dedicated to recovering the names of the estimated 10 million men, women, and children of African descent who were enslaved in pre- and post-colonial America (specifically, the territory that would become the United States) between the 1500s and 1865.

The project seeks to amplify the voices of people who have been telling their family stories for centuries, connect researchers and data partners with people seeking answers to family history questions, and expand access to data, resources, and information about enslaved African Americans.

Florida town, students resist letting state’s war on Black history be forgotten

The small town of Ocoee, Florida is the site of an infamous race massacre, the result of white people's outrage over a pair of Black men attempting to vote. The town, and students who want to know the state's history, as well as their own, are pushing back against new state education standards from the DeSantis administration, that would distort and dilute the teaching of this important event.
