------------
Trump heads overseas for his first major trip as president, Republicans at the state level are looking at the wreckage he is leaving behind and wondering if he will kill the party before the 2018 midterms.
----------
Florida GOP consultant John McKager Stipanovich says if Trump doesn’t follow through on his campaign promises to repeal Obamacare and cut taxes, it will disastrous when the next election cycle comes around. If after all of the talk, after all of the chest-thumping, we can’t get anything done, we may get clubbed like baby seals in 2018.
----------
36 states have governor’s races next year, with incumbents and GOP challengers alike likely to be put in the awkward position of having to defend Trump. Additionally there may be the awkwardness of Trump offering to campaign for a local Republican — only to have the candidate ask the president of the United States to stay away. here

----------
Florida Fracker Ray Rodrigues says that a scientific study is required. Rodrigues has previously said that it would be “foolish” to ban the practice without any scientific evidence.

Florida Banana Republicans Dennis Baxley and Rick Roth

Florida GOP once again to suppress direct democracy
---
Over the past few decades, Floridians frustrated that the Legislature won’t advance important reforms have gone directly to the ballot box to pass amendments to the Florida Constitution. But that could get harder under a new proposal by two Republican legislators.
---
Central Florida Republican Dennis Baxley has introduced a resolution in the Florida Senate that would increase the percentage needed to pass Florida Constitutional amendments from 60 percent to 66 and two-thirds percent. A companion bill has been filed by Palm Beach County Republican Rick Roth in the Florida House of Representatives. The Florida Democratic Party’s Amazing Display Of Incompetence

Florida GOP Bobby Olszewski, won a special election to serve as the newest member of the Florida House. His own party was trying to keep him out of office. So was  the Florida Chamber of Commerce and the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association.
-----
Florida Dems didn’t recruit anyone to run. Even though House District 44 voted for Clinton over Trump just last year.
-----
A Dem named Paul Chandler filed on his own. The GOP accused him of being ineligible to run. Democrats urged him to drop out of the race — and called him “malicious” when he didn’t. Chandler did finally drop out, but only after his name had been printed on all the ballots. So when a brave replacement finally stepped up, he didn’t have money, time — or even his own name on the ballot. Yet despite all that — 44 percent of voters still voted Democratic.
-----
This is why Democrats keep losing. Because, while rallies, protests and petitions are great for rallying the troops,
 if you don’t
give them candidates to rally behind, you simply can’t win.

Florida GOP Federal Judge Does Not Play Games

Florida GOP challenged a federal judge’s order that Florida must change the process used to restore voting rights to former prisoners.
-----
Attorney General Pam Bondi, acting on behalf of  Rick Scott and the state’s clemency board, appealed the judge’s decision to block the state’s current system of forcing ex-felons to wait at least five years before they can ask for the right to vote. U.S. District Mark Walker had given Scott and state officials until April 26 to create a new process, but attorneys working for Bondi asked that Walker’s order be placed on hold while the case moves to a federal appeals court in Atlanta.
-----
Hours after the appeal was made, Walker turned down Florida’s request to put the case on hold and said this “court does
not play games.
-----
“Rather than comply with the requirements of the United States Constitution, defendants continue to insist they can do whatever they want with hundreds of thousands of Floridians’ voting rights and absolutely zero standards,” Walker wrote. “They ask this Court to stay its prior orders. No.” here

They can see the ass whooping coming!

Florida GOP Is Costing Us $50 billion

The U.S. government wanted to give Florida $50 billion in taxpayer money
Money you paid into the system through
income taxes
To provide Medicaid to roughly 1 million Floridians who would otherwise go uncovered.
There was zero cost to the state for 10 years, after which we would have to kick in 10 percent.
Instead, Scott and the GOP blocked expansion and turned away the money, not because it was best for Florida, but because it was best for the GOP. Republican state legislators said no to free health care for 1 million Floridians, costing all of us taxpayer money in the end, as well as the associated jobs that would have been created.
And most importantly to most of us, costing lives.

Florida GOP Voters Are Rebelling

Republican voters are in full rebellion against the GOP in Florida. In last week's presidential primary, GOP voters treated Marco Rubio as a stand-in for the special interests who dominate party politics. They might not know the names but they know the outcomes.
As a result, the party establishment has been thrown into a panic. This one is filled with voter anger at both Florida coasts coated by a layer of toxic scum, as the state's rivers, bays and estuaries are turning to collateral damage by the state's most powerful special interest group, Big Sugar. here

11th Circuit Court of Appeals: NO To Florida GOP

we got big wins from the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals in two of our key cases – one challenging Florida’s ban on marriages for same-sex couples, and the other challenging Florida’s law mandating that people who apply for government assistance must submit to
suspicionless urinalysis.

Pledge to stand at the goal line with us to defend freedom in Florida. We know that defending freedom is going to be a challenge in the future, but we’ve seen this before, we’ve overcome it, and we have a plan to do it again.
That plan involves you. The ACLU of Florida is where Floridians who care about civil liberties come together to defend them. That defense is only as strong as the people who
step up to be a part of it.

Sign the pledge to say, “I stand for freedom in Florida!”

America This Is Your Florida. Do Something About It. Help Us

Algae is everywhere in the southern part of the Treasure Coast, and it's spreading.  Last weekend, all public beaches in Martin County, and many in St. Lucie County, were closed. Ocean waters turned emerald green. here

Rick Scott and the Florida GOP are in the sugar industry's pocket. This is the stuff of destitute Third World backwaters.  This is Rick Scott's Florida.  This is "Big Sugar's" Florida.  This is our Florida.  America, this is your Florida.  Do something about it. Help us. The nation as a whole needs to hear more about this. A national spotlight needs to be shined on the likes of Scott and the sugar industry, with the clear message: in the wake of our own Love Canal, our own Three Mile Island, these people chose the status quo. And as a result, a beautiful coastal region that ought to be a national treasure has been turned into a toilet.
Tourist and locals beware: The toxins can cause nausea and vomiting if swallowed. Touching can lead to a rash and breathing may lead hay fever symptoms. Liver disease is linked to drinking water with toxins.

Florida GOP Hurt Sick Kids To Help Big GOP Donors

In the spring and summer of 2015, the state switched more than 13,000 children out of a highly respected program called Children's Medical Services, or CMS, a part of Florida Medicaid. Parents and Florida pediatricians raise questions about the true reasons why
Florida's Republican administration switched the children's health plans. They question whether it was to financially reward insurance companies that had donated millions of dollars to the Republican Party of Florida.
"This was a way for the politicians to repay the entities that had contributed to their political campaigns and their political success, and it's the children who suffered."
