State Rep. Rachel Burgin is calling for changes and an apology from the nonprofit agency that runs The Regent, a facility built with public money that was supposed to serve as a community center but that she says is being run more like a country club. The board running the $7 million edifice on Watson Road has turned its back on the people they are supposed to serve.

A local Boy Scout troop was asked for $700 to hold a two-hour event on a Tuesday, a women's counseling group was told it would cost $3,000 to use the building for a few hours.
