Last night during a non-violent demonstration I was arrested along with 23 of my companions. We were all released on our own recognizances. I have been ordered to appear in court on December 14th. Many people of color took part in the demonstration. The small number of white people particularly saddened me. I fear that racial and economic injustice is acceptable to many until it affects them personally. The Christian faith rests on the reality of compassion. Suffering with others is difficult in a materialistic society where we fear losing what we have
