Early Voting at Jan Platt Library
Florida GOP Jeanette Núñez
Back in 2016, Miami-born Cuban-American Republican Rep. Jeanette Núñez tweeted, “Wake up, Florida voters; Trump is the biggest con man there is.” But in 2018, Núñez is the running mate of Trump worshipper and Florida GOP gubernatorial candidate Ron DeSantis, who is in a close, tight race with Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum (the Democratic nominee). DeSantis, with his white nationalist rhetoric, is an obvious racist. But having Núñez on the ticket was obviously an attempt to make DeSantis appear less bigoted. And she has deleted her anti-Trump tweet of 2016, now declaring herself to be a Trump supporter. here
GOP ad hits Florida Democrat on coal, climate change
The details: A narrator in the ad, sponsored by the National Republican Congressional Committee, says Mucarsel-Powell's campaign is “flooded with dirty coal money. The very polluters that threaten our way of life in the Keys." His voice is set against a CNN article headline: “The Florida Keys...at risk...as a result of climate change.”
Reality check: The ad doesn't specify what "coal money" Mucarsel-Powell is tied to. It could be referring to money that billionaire activist Tom Steyer made years ago in hedge funds that invested in coal, according to the NRCC website.
- But that's a stretch at best. Steyer is not affiliated with that hedge fund anymore, and he's an ardent environmentalist opposed to all fossil fuels. here

Tampa NAACP Receives Death Threats over Anti-Transit Stance
Less than two weeks after it came out against a proposed Hillsborough County transit tax, the Tampa NAACP was targeted with a hate letter that included death threats.
The threats were leveled at all African Americans. Gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum was specifically mentioned.

Press release:
HILLSBOROUGH NAACP IN OPPOSITION TO COUNTY TRANSPORTATION REFERENDUM
TAMPA, FLA (November 2, 2018)—The Hillsborough County National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) officially announed its opposition to Hillsborough County Referendum Number 2, the All for Transportation backed plan.
The amendment proposes a 1% sales surtax to fund transportation and roadway improvements countywide.
“This tax will place a significant burden on working class individuals in our communities today and the generations of tomorrow,” said Hillsborough County NAACP Branch President Yvette Lewis.
An overwhelming majority of the branch’s Executive Committee are also in agreement that the plan does not clearly define the potential for economic impact and job creation, which would benefit inner city residents tremendously.
The organization’s decision to vote against the transportation referendum was also based on the exclusion of East Tampa residents and the NAACP from early discussions when there was an opportunity for the referendum to be revised.
“Now, we’re in another position where the train has left the station without our voices being valued, much less heard,”
said Lewis.

Strange Sighting At Gillum Rally In Tampa
"Noticed this strange sight at the Bernie for Gillum rally. Thought maybe Halloween decoration, but a black ghost? looked all around. No decorations just this. Asked a couple people, and got strange answers. Oh its just to cover a restroom sign so no one goes up there ... or its just a rolled up banner. I dunno... looks sketchy to me."

UPDATE
I funk'd up on that post the other day. 1st pic is one of them. I thought it was what it l👀ks like from this angle. Many agreed but some didn't and thought it was a "covered rest-room sign so folks wouldn't use them.. Removed post to do some further investigation. I called the University & talked to the Rec. director who said he didn't have a clue what I was talking about & that whatever it was had to've been done by the Dem Party who rented the gym for rally. I didnt know what to think then so I recruited a friend over that way to go undercover for me & take pics of what's there now. Those are the 2nd two pics from up on 2nd level, from the side. Still couldn't quite tell till I went back to look at 1st pics I took that day from the other side, on lower floor. Doh! There it is! It was an optical illusion from the front & easy to jump to that conclusion in the present racially charged political climate in Fl.... It's some kind of time clock tho, not a restroom sign. So there it is! My bad! My apologies to any one it may have upset & to any racists I may have offended. It wasn't them this time! Lesson learned.

Senator Bernie Sanders @ the USF Rally for Andrew Gillum
Due to a small glitch with my camera, I lost the last 2 minutes of Senator Sanders speech so I replaced it with the same 2 minutes from a video recorded by a local ABC News affiliate.
